UMkhonto weSizwe Party Condemns Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla’s Insulting Comments About Floyd Shivambu on Social Media in South Africa

The UMkhonto weSizwe Party (MK) has strongly condemned the recent social media posts made by party leader Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla, in which she insulted the party’s secretary-general, Floyd Shivambu.

These comments, made on the platform X (formerly Twitter), have sparked controversy and have been deemed a clear violation of the party’s disciplinary code of conduct.

MK Party Leader’s Daughter Under Fire for Insulting Shivambu on X

On the night of February 10, 2025, Zuma-Sambudla took to X and made disparaging remarks about Shivambu, calling him “useless” and describing him as “the worst thing that has ever happened” to the MK Party.

Her post quickly gained attention, with many questioning her actions and the implications for the party’s unity.

MK Party Spokesperson Responds to the Controversy

In response to the posts, MK Party spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhlela made it clear that such behavior is unacceptable.

He called the posts “divisive, denigrating, and offensive,” stating that they go against the core values of unity, respect, and discipline that the party stands for.

Jacob Zuma Orders Duduzile to Publicly Apologize

Following the backlash, party leader Jacob Zuma has instructed his daughter to take immediate action.

Ndhlela confirmed that Zuma-Sambudla has been ordered to publicly apologize without reservation to Shivambu, the president, all MK members, supporters, and to the people of South Africa.

Furthermore, she must extend formal apologies to all structures she is involved with, including her role in the Southern Caucus of the Pan-African Parliament.

Disciplinary Action to Follow If Apology Is Not Issued

The MK Party has made it clear that if Zuma-Sambudla fails to comply with these demands, a formal disciplinary process will be initiated in accordance with the party’s constitution and code of conduct.

Ndhlela emphasized that failure to follow through would result in immediate consequences, including the potential termination of Zuma-Sambudla’s membership and recall from all party duties.
