Two areas Kaizer Chiefs have to strengthen with signings

The most recent transfer window saw Amakhosi emerge out of the dark shadows of FIFA’s two-year ban. Nine signings were made but like at any club, not all signings work out successfully.

Additionally, five of Kaizer Chiefs’ new faces were four defenders and one goalkeeper. It is therefore easy to see tell that the next shopping mission will focus on midfield and attack. Cleaning products have been secured, now it’s time to buy food and meat.

The midfield and attack is also the area where Amakhosi have older players that the club’s Sporting Director said need’s average age reduction.

CENTRAL MIDFIELD

At this Stuart Baxter’s team only has four out-and-out central midfielders. Cole Alexander, Kearyn Baccus, and Phathutshedzo Nange. Baxter has even had to set Njabulo Blom and Njabulo Ngcobo in the center. There is also Anthony Akumu but he looks surely on his way out at the end of the season.

There is just no way Kaizer Chiefs will compete next season with these options, especially if the club will return to the CAF Champions.

Additionally, it makes full sense to see the Glamour Boys linked with the likes of Yusuf Maart and Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo.

ATTACKING DEPARTMENT

The club’s attacking options is where the 12-time league champions will essentially refresh with younger legs.

The likes of Lebogang Manyama and Leonardo Castro are not getting any younger. Though Benard Parker has aged quite well, he will need to be managed as far as the minutes he can deliver.

Other players such as Dumisani Zuma, Lazarous Kambole, and Kgaogelo Sekgota face an uncertain future after offering limited contributions this season.

So will Amakhosi bring in a longer list of new faces than they did last season? We shall find out quite soon.
