A service delivery protest in Tshwane, Gauteng on Wednesday, 13 April has brought the N4 highway to a standstill.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) and Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) have confirmed that the protest action is related to service delivery.
The N4 highway and the R104 road are closed as a result of service delivery #ProtestAction by the residents of Ward 100 (Lethabong, Skierlik, Mooiplaats, Kopanong and Pienaarspoort). #SAPS and Metro Police maintaining #PoliceVisibility in the area.
The affected roads are the N4 highway and R104 road in the vicinity of Donkerhoek.
The police said the protestors are believed to be from Ward 100, which includes Lethabong, Skierlik, Mooiplaats, Kopanong and Pienaarspoort.
“SAPS and Metro Police [are] maintaining police visibility in the area,” said the police.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes.
