Due to a “urgent family matter,” Travis Barker has returned to the United States.Blink-182 has delayed the start of their UK tour, which was supposed to begin in Glasgow on September 1.The tour will now not begin until after their September 5th engagement in Dublin. The 47-year-old drummer posted a photo of himself kneeling in an airport prayer room soon before the trio made their statement.

The band made the announcement on the microblogging service X (formerly known as Twitter), writing, “Due to an urgent family matter, Travis has had to return home to the States.”Sadly, we had to postpone the performances in Glasgow, Belfast, and Dublin. As soon as we have further details, we will share them with you on his planned return to Europe and the new performance dates.Kourtney Kardashian, 44, who is expecting, and he were last seen out for a stroll.

The band has announced they are hoping to reschedule the dates. The band’s and Travis’s respective publicists have been approached by MailOnline for comment. This post follows closely on the heels of Travis’s emotional Instagram story post commemorating his late friend DJ AM on the 14th anniversary of his untimely death.Notable for his work with DJ AM, Travis and AM went on to start their own group, TRV$DJAM.

Barker included references to the late actor, whose true name was Adam Michael Goldstein, in his writings as a way to remember him. He was discovered dead of an apparent drug overdose on August 28, 2009, at the age of 36, in his New York City residence. He posted three vintage black and white photos of DJ AM but did not title them. After being the only two people to survive a devastating plane disaster, the two were inextricably linked to one another. Before that, they’d performed together at a number of live events, including the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards.

DJ AM joined the group Crazy Town in 1999, however he left two years later to pursue his solo career. In 2003, he started dating Nicole Richie, Lionel Richie’s daughter, and his career took off. After a break from Blink-182 in 2005, drummer Travis Barker joined forces with Adam, a lifelong addict, to form TRV$DJAM.Fix Your Face, their debut mixtape, was released online on August 27, 2008, two months after they began performing in Los Angeles’s The Roxy Theater in June 2008.The group’s performance at the T-Mobile Block Party in Columbia, South Carolina, was on September 19, 2008.After that, they boarded a Learjet 60 in South Carolina with assistant Chris Baker, security guard Charles Still, and two pilots en route to Los Angeles.

Unfortunately, the plane crashed shortly after takeoff due to an unexpected emergency. The crash was later blamed on ‘faulty tires,’ as reported by Billboard. Sadly, Travis and DJ AM were the only survivors of the disaster, while Baker and Still perished alongside the two pilots.

As a result of the blaze in the plane, both were flown to the Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Georgia for treatment of their third-degree burns. According to Today, DJ AM discussed the tragic incident in a previous interview with People. I kicked off my shoes and dozed off while the plane was taxiing to the runway.

His next recollection was of them colliding with something. I awoke to the sound of Travis yelling and the sight of flames engulfing the jet. Like in “Miami Vice,” where the automobile is on fire and the protagonists had to flee the scene before the fuel tank bursts, I recall thinking, “We have to get out of here!” In Adam’s words, Travis slid down an ablaze wing on his butt after being yanked back from the door. As I jumped through a flame, I desperately tried to shield my face. My mind immediately flashed to “Stop, drop, and roll,” and I began rolling the second my feet touched the earth. After putting out the fire on his own body, he rushed to Barker’s side to do the same for him.My eyebrows and some of the skin on my face were completely burnt away. My arm was ripped open and skin was missing from my forehead.

I was so stunned that I couldn’t feel a thing. Travis had previously described the harrowing moment in an interview with Larry King, saying, “The landing gear popped, it sounded like gunshots.”The noise was as if a rifle were being fired very near to my skull. The plane quickly began a downward spiral after that.

The plane would take off, crash to the ground, and then take off again. The artist said, “The flames and smoke grew larger with each impact, and by the time we made our final landing, the plane was completely ablaze.” We were a blazing orb in the sky, and I for one couldn’t wait for the sun to set so we could go to sleep. Both Travis and DJ AM decided against flying in the wake of the incident. In 2021, however, the drummer and Kourtney Kardashian conquered their fears and took a flight to Italy.

This was only his second flight after the accident; his first was to Cabo. From above, Travis had posted a snapshot of the nighttime earth below, and then he had posted a picture of DJ AM. In an old interview with Men’s Health, Barker said that he and DJ AM used to be “each other’s therapists” after the crash because “it was just him and me.” Further, he said, “When he left, I was like, “Oh, f**k. My group consists of just myself. It’s just me, and I figure things out on my own. The two went on to pursue their own careers after their respective recoveries, and they shared a stage at the New Year’s Nation L.A. party in 2008.

When Adam left his job as a DJ at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, he quickly found work as a DJ at the Palms Casino Resort. He made a brief foray into acting, appearing as himself in Iron Man 2 as a DJ at Tony Stark’s (Robert Downey Jr.’s) party. Gone Too Far, a reality show about drug intervention, later made him its host.

The episodes began airing soon after his passing. Since he was a youth, the singer has struggled with drug addiction; after attempted suicide at 24, he finally got therapy and became sober. DJ AM wrote an essay for Glamour in January 2008 in which he discussed his difficulties with drug addiction, obesity, and eating. When he was 14, he started using drugs and became known as “the fat kid from Philly.” He continued to use drugs daily for the following two years until finally asking his mother to send him to rehab.

His mother didn’t know, but the institution was a “house of horrors” where abuse was common, he said. When he finally left, he was 18 years old.”When I left rehab, I had learned nothing about recovery; I attended a few meetings, but within five months I was back doing drugs,” the former addict said. “I started going to meetings again and separating myself from friends who were still using drugs.”

Adjusting to sober deejaying was the toughest challenge. He admitted helping out at Tom Cruise and Leonardo DiCaprio birthday bashes. “As the years passed, I became more stable in my sobriety, but my struggles with eating grew increasingly out of hand. At 30, I was 324 pounds and decided to get ‘gastric bypass surgery’ because I despised my body so much. Adam was 34 years old when he wrote that, and he hasn’t used alcohol or drugs in over nine years and counting at that point. But I have to keep telling myself every day that no matter how much time has passed, I am still an addict. There’s seldom more than five seconds between when I see someone drinking and when I walk over, grab their drink, and chug it. And if I do that, I’ll be smoking crack in a week at the most. In an interview with MTV from July 2008, he revealed that he had a ‘flashback’ while filming Gone Too Far.

To prove that it was possible, he had gone into a New York convenience store and purchased a crack pipe. My hands started to sweat. I realized, “Wait a minute, this is not smart for me to be holding this,” and then I started freaking out to the point that I needed to let some steam off. According to ABC News, he said, “And it kind of put that image back in my head.”

On the day of his death, August 28, 2009, his body was discovered in a Manhattan apartment apparently littered with drug paraphernalia, such as a crack pipe and empty pill bottles. However, it was determined that his death was accidental. His funeral and burial were place at the Hillside Memorial Park Cemetery in Los Angeles on September 2, 2009. Adam’s relatives and friends, as well as celebrities like Travis Barker and Robert Downey Jr., attended his memorial service the next day.
