Transmission Gully link roads blessed as opening of new stretch of SH1 nears

The roads linking Transmission Gully to Porirua have been blessed this morning .

Porirua mayor Anita Baker, representatives from Ngāti Toa, former Porirua mayors, and other dignitaries arrived at the new road for a blessing of the link roads

“It is one of the biggest infrastructure projects the region has ever seen,” Baker said.

The link roads – linking the State Highway 1 highway with Waitangirua and Whitby – will be open to the public when the main highway opens this week – the exact time is still not public.

Road working trucks could still be seen on Transmission Gully on Tuesday morning.
