Greetings, Mr. President.

The Special Rapporteur on Trafficking in Persons is appreciated for her continuous efforts, and the United Kingdom welcomes further discussion on this important subject.

We appreciate the Special Rapporteur’s most recent report and agree with her that child labor is on the rise and human trafficking poses serious hazards.

We agreed to cooperate while serving as the G7 presidency in order to end forced labor, safeguard victims, and increase supply chain transparency.

The UK recently vowed to support the elimination of child labor at the 5th Global Conference on the Elimination of Child Labor, and we are dedicated to moving through on objectives including collaborating with companies to do so.

We anticipate that all enterprises operating in the UK will conduct themselves in accordance with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, abide by all applicable laws, and fulfill their obligations under the UK Modern Slavery Act.

They also manage supply chains both domestically and abroad.

Mullally, special rapporteur

What additional actions can the international community take to hasten the implementation of SDG 8.7, which calls for the abolition of child labor?

I’m grateful.
