The Minister of Police, General Bheki Cele leads a national delegation to the Eastern Cape to visit the scene where a group of children lost their lives at a local tavern

A national delegation headed by the Minister of Police, General Bheki Cele, has traveled to the Eastern Cape to visit the scene of the early today morning fatal shooting of many children at a small tavern.

General Fannie Masemola, the National Commissioner of the SAPS, crime scene investigators from the SAPS Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), and bomb disposal specialists make up the delegation.

The Provincial Team, under the direction of Lieutenant General Nomthetheleli Mene, Provincial Commissioner of the Eastern Cape, has provided a preliminary report to the Minister.

The MEC for Community Safety in the Province, MEC Weziwe Tikana-Gxothiwe, is a member of the delegation.

Outside the tavern where the incident took place, the minister is currently speaking to the Scenery Park neighborhood.

After that, the Minister will inform the media on the most recent developments.
