To help residents in riverine towns throughout the state improve their standard of living, the Edo State Government has promised to provide high-quality healthcare, security, and other infrastructure.

The guarantee was given by Hon. Osaigbovo Iyoha, who is the Chief of Staff to the Governor of Edo State, during a courtesy visit by the Ofunama National Executives at the Government House in Benin City.

He promised that the state would fund high-quality medical facilities for people living in riverine areas, such as Ofunama in Edo State’s Ovia South-West Local Government Area.

“A standard primary healthcare center is coming to Ofunama, as the riverine areas will be given swift attention as regard quality healthcare services in the state to check death rates,” Obaseki stated.

Our primary healthcare system is being readjusted, we hope.

To satisfy the requirements of the population, we are committed to offering top-notch medical treatment throughout the state, especially in our primary healthcare facilities.

In order to improve coordination for the deployment of police officers to the police station in Ofunama, which was constructed with community support, the governor further stated that the state government will meet with the State Commissioner of Police.

He added that the action will help to reduce insecurity in the region.

The government “takes the security of Edo people seriously and as such, will address the issue of security in our waterways,” he added.

“Our waterways across the country are inadequately secured but we want to assure you that the government takes the security of Edo people seriously.”

He claimed, “We are aware of the importance of a flow station in the region. For permission to use the flow station effectively, we shall write to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

We’ll pay a visit as a follow-up, and something will be done.

“The road will be created by the Infrastructure Ministry of Edo. You’ll see outcomes with that as well. The village will soon have a jetty like other riverine communities in the state, thanks to our efforts.
