Serena Williams, the former world number one in women’s tennis, has hinted that she may return to the same Grand Slam tournament in June, exactly a year after her last appearance.

Due to a leg injury, Williams, 40, staggered out of last year’s first-round encounter at Wimbledon in tears.

She also missed the Tokyo Olympics and the US Open in 2021, as well as the Australian Open earlier this year, due to a hamstring issue.

Serena Williams was forced to withdraw from her first-round match at Wimbledon last year owing to a leg ailment.

“We’ve been chatting about my comeback and he’s been boosting me up and getting me ready for Wimbledon,” Serena said on an Instagram story alongside NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers. “I’m very excited!”

“Wimbledon is before the US Open, I’ve got to play Wimbledon first,” she said when Rodgers questioned about a possible comeback at the US Open. Exciting!”

Williams has won the grasscourt major seven times, the most recent of which was in 2016.

Since winning her last Grand Slam championship at the 2017 Australian Open, Williams has dropped to 246th in the women’s rankings.
