Teenager in serious condition after he was stabbed in the chest in Carletonville

According to ER24 spokesperson Ineke van Huyssteen, paramedics arrived at the scene shortly before 23h30 on Saturday.

“When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene shortly before 23h30, they found the boy lying next to the road. His friend was in attendance too.

She said upon further assessment, the boy was found to have sustained two stab wounds to the chest.

“ER24 paramedics treated him at the scene before transporting him to the hospital for further medical care.”

THE EXACT DETAILS SURROUNDING THE STABBING IS NOT KNOWN YET

Van Huyssteen furthermore said the exact circumstances surrounding the incident were not known to the paramedics.

Last month a teenager was stabbed to death by another teenager outside a Pinetown school.

According to Emer-G-Med spokesperson Kyle van Reenen, paramedics were called to the scene on Friday afternoon.

TEENAGER STABBED TO DEATH LAST MONTH

“Paramedics responded to reports of a stabbing incident outside a school in the Ashley area of Pinetown west of Durban.

“On arrival on the scene, a fifteen-year-old boy was found to have sustained a stab wound to his abdomen. He was in a critical condition.”

Van Reenen said Advanced Life Support intervention was needed to stabilize the teenager before he was placed onto a mechanical ventilator to assist him in breathing.

STABBING HAPPENED OUTSIDE A SCHOOL

According to police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Nqobile Gwala, the teenager died after being rushed to hospital.

Pinetown SAPS is investigating a case of murder.

“The 16-year-old allegedly stabbed the 15-year-old in the stomach once after having a verbal altercation,” Gwala said.

The injured teenager collapsed. He was rushed to hospital but unfortunately died.

“The 16-year-old was arrested. Police seized the knife used,” Gwala said.
