The British Olympic Association (BOA) is examining a WhatsApp conversation screenshot involving Wilson-Hardy that was subsequently shared on Instagram.

Wilson-Hardy, who was active in Team GB’s recent match against South Africa, had been set to participate in the placement matches at the Games.

However, she has now withdrawn, with the BOA citing ‘medical grounds’ for her departure.

The statement from the BOA confirmed that she would be replaced by Abi Burton, an Olympian from Tokyo 2020.

The controversy centers around a screengrab from a WhatsApp chat involving Wilson-Hardy and another individual, in which a photograph of Wilson-Hardy wearing a dark-colored facemask is accompanied by a troubling comment.
