A striking new mural promoting an anti-racism message has emerged in Cardiff.
Located on Moira Terrace in Adamsdown, the artwork was created in support of Urdd’s 2023 Peace and Goodwill message, emphasizing the importance of fighting against racism.
Urdd Gobaith Cymru, Wales’ largest youth organization, has been sharing an annual Peace and Goodwill message for over a century.
This year’s message, “Call. Them.
Out,” aims to send a resolute message to the world regarding anti-racism.
The Mural: Depicting Nia Fajeyisan, Urdd Ambassador:
The mural portrays a portrait of Nia Fajeyisan, an ambassador for Urdd and a young football player and coach based in Cardiff.
Unify Creatives, the talented artists behind the mural, have previously created other impactful artworks throughout Cardiff, featuring notable figures such as Gary Speed and Maimuna Yoncana.
Adamsdown Council’s Delight and Community Impact:
Owen Jones, a councilor from Adamsdown, expressed his delight regarding the mural, stating that he is proud to see Unify Creative’s latest artwork in Adamsdown.
He described the mural as a wonderful, striking, and powerful image that promotes positive messages.
Located on Moira Terrace, a busy thoroughfare for traffic, the mural has instantly revitalized the street scene and will be seen by hundreds of commuters daily.
The councilor emphasized the significance of the message, urging everyone to stand against racism and call it out.
Unveiling and Official Unveiling Date:
The mural is not yet fully completed, but an official unveiling is planned for Tuesday, June 6, organized by Urdd.
This event will celebrate the artwork and its anti-racism message, bringing further attention to the importance of fighting against racism.
