Strange White Disc Discovered in the Mountains of New Mexico Sparks Online Speculation About UFO or Military Testing

Mysterious Disc in New Mexico Sparks Online Buzz

A strange discovery in the mountains of New Mexico has taken the internet by storm, with people speculating wildly about its origins.

It all started when users of Google Maps noticed a peculiar white disc-shaped object poking out of the ground, located at 7,400 feet above sea level.

The coordinates of this odd site are 34°24’21.6″N 107°05’44.5″W. Situated about 34 miles from the Sevilleta National Wildlife Refuge in La Joya, the location is tucked deep in the Sierra Ladrones mountain range, far from any roads or nearby homes.

The Growing Speculation

The disc has captivated the imagination of many online, sparking theories ranging from alien technology to secret military experiments.

Some believe the object could be a UFO that has been embedded in the mountain for centuries, while others suggest it could be the hatch of a hidden underground facility meant for unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAPs).

Observers have even noted features such as what appear to be windows, a fuselage, and electrical circuits on the object.

What’s even more intriguing is the fact that Google Maps users dug into historical images of the area, revealing a black, box-like structure at the same spot as far back as 1975.

By 2003, the disc shape had appeared in the same area, sitting amid the barren landscape.

Calls for Action

The curious site quickly went viral on social media, with some users demanding that someone send a drone to investigate the object up close.

Steph Kent, a user on the social platform X (formerly Twitter), posted about the strange object, sparking further discussion.

“Something in the shape of a disc embedded in a mountain in New Mexico, USA, at an altitude of 2,255 meters,” Kent wrote.

People were divided, with some suggesting the object could be an observatory, while others insisted it looked like a downed alien spacecraft.

A More Grounded Theory

Among all the theories, one YouTuber named MrMBB333 offered a more grounded take.

He investigated the site on Google Maps and shared his findings, noting the disc’s approximate 30-foot diameter.

“This looks very much like a disc that is stuck in the top of this mountain,” he said in his video.

His theory was that the object was a UFO that crash-landed, then got buried over time.

However, this theory was later countered by users on Mick West’s Metabunk website.

After some digging into historical records, one user suggested that the object might not be a UFO at all, but a rainwater catchment system that was removed and replaced with something else.

They pointed to images from the U.S. Geological Survey that showed a black dot at the exact location of the disc as early as 1975.4.

Further records revealed a path leading to the site, making the UFO theory less likely.

Similar Mysterious Discoveries

This isn’t the only strange Google Maps find to go viral lately.

Just recently, users spotted the word “HELP” spelled out with various materials on a plot of land in Los Angeles, close to a storage and waste facility. The site, located about one mile east of Los Angeles City Hall, featured not just “HELP,” but also the Spanish words “TRAFFICO” (traffic) and “TERRORISMO” (terrorism), along with “LAPD,” “FEDERAL,” and “FBI.

” The images went viral on social media, sparking fears of a possible human trafficking operation in the area.

Some Reddit users theorized that the words might be an SOS, warning authorities of an ongoing situation.

“I hope if a random person noticed, authorities noticed as well,” one user wrote.

The proximity to a shipping yard led others to speculate that shipping containers could be used for trafficking, a claim further fueled by the discovery of what appeared to be tunnel entrances nearby.

A Different Explanation Emerges

While many online were concerned about the potential meaning of the messages, others had a more mundane explanation.

One resident of the area told a person on X that the messages were likely written by a man named José, who has been writing the same words in the area for years.

“He writes it everywhere… it’s been years,” the woman said, though she wasn’t sure why José kept doing it.

Others living nearby shared similar stories, offering some comfort to those worried about a more sinister explanation.

These discoveries in both New Mexico and Los Angeles highlight how seemingly mysterious places can spark wild theories, but sometimes, the truth is far simpler than we might think.
