According to reports today, police questionnaires relating to the Beergate row are ‘very thorough’ and include questions concerning a football shirt given to Keir Starmer.

Durham police have given Sir Keir and his deputy Angela Rayner paperwork to complete out as part of the investigation into possible lockdown breaches, according to Labour.

Both politicians have denied misconduct in the aide gathering during the local election campaign in April of last year, but have promised to resign if fined.

The surveys, which were distributed to about 15 persons, are claimed to be lengthy and in-depth. According to The Times, they inquire about a Consett AFC football shirt presented to Sir Keir on the night.

The issue erupted after Labour leader Ed Miliband was spotted swigging a beer in an MP’s office after a day of campaigning for local elections last year.

Police first refused to investigate, but after a series of exposes by the Daily Mail about what had truly happened at Durham Miners Hall, they made a U-turn.
