Rugby fans, mark your calendars! The Springboks are gearing up for an electrifying clash against Argentina to wrap up their 2025 Rugby Championship campaign.
This highly anticipated match will take place on Saturday, 4 October, at the legendary Allianz Stadium in Twickenham, London—a first for both teams in the competition on neutral ground.
A Historic First for the Rugby Championship
For the first time in Rugby Championship history, the Springboks and Los Pumas will battle it out on neutral territory.
This showdown marks South Africa’s third consecutive year playing at the Allianz Stadium, following their dominant victories over New Zealand (35-7) in a 2023 World Cup warm-up and Wales (41-13) last season.
Adding even more excitement, this match is the tournament’s final fixture.
Earlier that day, Australia will host New Zealand in Perth, meaning the Twickenham clash could determine the championship winner, depending on how the tournament unfolds.
Springboks Excited for a London Showdown
Springbok head coach Rassie Erasmus expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming match, highlighting the significance of playing in London and the strong support the team receives from South African fans in the UK.
“It’s always special to play in London, and we’re looking forward to facing Argentina there for the first time in the Rugby Championship,” said Erasmus.
“The past two years have been fantastic experiences at Allianz Stadium, with incredible crowds and passionate Springbok supporters filling the stands.
This match will be another intense battle, given our history with Los Pumas, and we’re excited for the challenge.”
Argentina Sees a Huge Opportunity
Argentina Rugby Union President Gabriel Travaglini also shared his excitement about the fixture, emphasizing the honor of facing the world champions at such an iconic venue.
“For Argentina Rugby, it is a privilege to play against the reigning world champions at Allianz Stadium, a venue known as the Home of Rugby,” said Travaglini.
“We are grateful to World Rugby and SANZAAR for this opportunity, which showcases the growth of Argentine rugby and strengthens our sport’s development.
It will undoubtedly be a memorable experience for our players and a chance to display our rugby on the global stage.”
