South Dakota House Votes To Impeach AG Who Killed A Man And Said He Thought He Hit A Deer.

South Dakota Attorney General hit a man on the Highway 14 near Highmore, on Sept. 12, 2020 and said he thought he hit a deer.

However, the turn of events reveal it was an intentional hit and run.

Ravnsborg struck and killed Joseph Boever, he later pleaded no contest to misdemeanor traffic charges, none of which held him criminally responsible for Boever’s death.

The final vote was 36 to 31. The case now moves to the State Senate for trial, which by law must take at least 20 days after the House vote. It takes a two-thirds majority in that chamber to convict on the impeachment charges.

“The House of Representatives voted and I respect the process but I look forward to the Senate trial where I believe I will be vindicated,” Ravnsborg said in a statement issued Tuesday evening.
