Six Suspects Arrested By Police In Anambra For Touting, Illegal Revenue Collection

Police operatives in Anambra State have arrested six suspects flouting the state government’s  ban on touting and illegal revenue collection.

They also recovered one Sub Machine Gun rifle, one magazine and four ammunitions.

A statement signed on behalf of the command by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP, Tochukwu Ikenga gave names of the suspects as, Andrew Chukwueze, aged nineteen years from Nkanu East, Enugu State, Emmanuel Charles aged eighteen years From Umualoma in Orlu, Imo State, Chigozie Bernard, aged twenty years From Izza-west in Ebonyi state.

Others are Chibueze Nduife, aged thirty years from Ebonyi State, Nnamdi Anyigba aged twenty-seven years from Enugu State and Ebuka Ogidi age twenty-five years from Ebonyi.

They were arrested between twenty-third and twenty-six of march 2022 along Kara junction, Atani road and Obodokwu road while touting and collecting revenue illegally from motorists and other members of the public.

The statement said the success of the operation is in line with the commitment of the Anambra state Commissioner of Police  Echeng Echeng and deliberate strategies which involves both covert and overt operations, to wipe out all criminal elements and other violent crimes in the state,

According to the release in a related incident on 24th March, 2022, police operatives in a joint patrol with Vigilante group along ring-road Isiagu, Awka, sighted group of boys suspected to be armed robbers who took to their heels on sighting the police and abandoned a bag containing one Sub Machine Gun rifle, one Magazine and four live ammunition and efforts are already in place to arrest the fleeing suspects.

The statement said CP Echeng while reiterating that the Police, as an organization saddled with the constitutional responsibilities of protection of lives and properties as well as maintenance of law and order, assures that the Command will not fold her hands and allow some disgruntled elements to make life unbearable for the residents.

He also commended the Officers and Men of the Command for their perseverance and painstaking efforts to weed out all criminal elements in the State.
