Six suspects are set to appear before the Orkney Magistrates’ Court today on a charge of possessing a firearm and ammunition without a license

Six suspects, ranging in age from 20 to 30, are set to appear before the Orkney Magistrates’ Court today on a charge of possessing a firearm and ammunition without a license.

Additionally, the suspects are charged with violating Section 49(1)(a) of the Immigration Act of 2002. (Act No. 13 of 2002).

On Tuesday evening, June 21, 2022, the members of the task force investigating illegal mining were engaged in criminal activity close to a bridge on the R30 Orkney road.

Six people in a Toyota Quantum were taken into custody and searched. A 9mm semi-automatic pistol with one magazine, 25 live bullets, and 25 blank rounds was discovered during the search and taken away. No one could explain the possession, therefore the suspects were taken into custody.
