Simone Biles, the American gymnastics legend, and her NFL husband Jonathan Owens are currently living it up in South Africa, enjoying a delayed honeymoon.
After a busy couple of years focused on their careers, the couple finally found time to celebrate their love and new life together with an adventurous trip to Africa.
Exploring South Africa’s Beauty
The couple kicked off their South African getaway with a thrilling safari experience.
Not content with just one adventure, they also explored the beautiful region of Franschhoek, indulged in fishing off the coast of Cape Town, and even shared a glass of wine at the charming Café Roux in Noordhoek Farm Village.
It’s clear that Simone and Jonathan are soaking up everything this stunning country has to offer.
A Moment of Reflection from Simone Biles
Simone Biles, 27, took to social media to share a beautiful moment with an elephant during their safari.
Posting a photo of herself feeding the majestic animal, she captioned it, “Consider this my postcard from South Africa,” delighting her 12.5 million Instagram followers.
Fans from South Africa flooded the post with warm welcomes, with one user commenting, “Welcome to South Africa,” and another saying, “I hope you’re enjoying your stay here in South Africa.”
Close Encounters with Wildlife
During their safari, Simone and Jonathan had some thrilling, and slightly nerve-wracking, encounters with wildlife. One particularly close call happened when a male lion got alarmingly close to their vehicle on a night drive. Simone couldn’t help but joke about her reaction, sharing, “Not gonna lie, I almost s**t myself.”
Simone also shared some stunning snapshots of a leopard lounging in a tree and had fun captioning pictures of zebras and a warthog with references to the movie Madagascar and The Lion King, calling the zebra ‘Marty’ and the warthog ‘Pumba’.
Jonathan Owens Captures the Moment
Jonathan Owens, safety for the Chicago Bears, shared several clips from their safari adventure, capturing the wonder and excitement of the experience.
Of the lion encounter, he posted, “I had to stop recording, my heart was beating so fast!” His posts reflect the joy and awe that both he and Simone felt while discovering South Africa’s wildlife.
