Sensitization Workshop For Anambra Youth Leaders Ends In Awka

A one-day sensitization and orientation workshop for youth leaders has ended in Awka with a call on youth leaders to be ICT compliance.

The workshop organized by the Anambra State Ministry of Youth Empowerment and Creative Economy at the ministry’s hall, drew participants from the National Youth Council of Nigeria Anambra state chapter which included Voluntary Youth Organizations, Community and Faith Based Youth Organizations.

Correspondent Njideka Okoye covered the workshop and  reports that while d… eclaring the workshop open, the former Anambra Commissioner for Youth Empowerment and Creative Economy, Professor Theresa Obiekezie, stated that the workshop which marks the last event of her ministry in this administration, was to train and sensitize youth leaders on logistics and data.

Professor Obiekezie stressed the need for youth leaders to know the number of those they lead, their capabilities and what they do, advising them to take the message to their communities and put into practice all the teachings of the workshop for effective leadership.

A resource person Dr. Ikechukwu Umeh who took them on “Youth Leadership in the ICT Era said that a leader is one who initiate action and enumerated nine leadership styles and qualities of good leadership while another resource person, Mr. Obinna Nwakpadolu explained extensively how to use Google account and social media for effective leadership, urging them to be ICT compliant.

Also speaking, the State Chairman, National Youth Council of Nigeria Anambra state Chapter, Comrade Morgan Obidinma a stakeholder, Comrade Damian Ukatuh, noted that the workshop will enlighten them on good leadership and role of youths in nation building, assuring that youth leaders will take the information gathered from the training to their various communities to sensitize youths which will also help in reducing crimes among the youths for a better society.

In a vote of thanks, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry Mrs Louisa Ezeanya thanked them for their participation urging the youth leaders to go to their various communities and sensitize other youths on dangers of crimes and intake of hard drugs and to support the incoming administration.
