In a statement released by his Media Office, Senator Izunaso emphasized that he is the most suitable candidate for the role and that it is time for his ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, to show their appreciation.

Senator Izunaso made these remarks shortly after attending the Interdenominational service held at the Ecumenical Centre in Abuja.

He emphasized that in the interest of justice, fairness, and equity, the new President of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the leadership of the ruling party should consider his years of service and sacrifice to the party when deciding whom to support for the position of Senate President.

Having been a former member of the APC National Working Committee (NWC), Senator Izunaso mentioned that he had dedicated his time, energy, and resources, alongside prominent figures like Chief Bisi Akande and the current Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola, to build the party from its inception.

He recalled the initial stages of the party’s establishment, where he and other party members would travel to Lagos every weekend for six months, working to finalize the party’s name, logo, and registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission.

He also pointed out that there were no litigations during the party’s 36 governorship primaries, emphasizing their commitment to doing things right.

He acknowledged the difficulties faced by the party in the region, particularly due to a prominent Presidential candidate who enjoyed substantial support from voters.

Senator Izunaso reiterated that their victory was hard-fought, emphasizing the challenges they overcame.

Lastly, Senator Izunaso emphasized his qualifications and experience.

He mentioned his election to the House of Representatives in 2003 and his subsequent election to the Senate in 2007.

Prior to that, he had served as a staff member in both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
