Senate seeks amendment of Federal University of Education Aguleri Establishment Bill After President Buhari Denied Assent

The Senate on Wednesday approved bill seeking to amend the Federal University of Education, Aguleri, Anambra State already passed by the Upper chamber.

The Leader of the Senate, Senator Abdullahi Yahaya Abubakar (APC, Kebbi North), in presenting the bill for amendment,  recalled that the Federal University of Education, Aguleri, Anambra State (Establishment) Bill 2022 was passed by the National Assembly and transmitted to  President Muhammadu Buhari for assent.

He observed that some fundamental issues which required fresh legislative action by both Chambers of the National Assembly emerged after a critical analysis of the bill by President Buhari.

Senator Yahaya, explained that a Technical Committee of the Senate and House of Representatives and Directorate of Legal Services met and worked on the bill.

Accordingly,  the Senate rescinded its decision on the bill as passed and re-commit same to the Committee of the Whole for reconsideration and passage
