Megan Evans, a 14-year-old schoolgirl from Milford Haven, was found dead in her bathroom after enduring a relentless campaign of online bullying.

Megan’s mother, Nicola Harteveld, shared the painful details of the bullying, which included a page created specifically to harass her daughter.
One group was even named “I hate Megan Evans.”
Despite these online attacks being reported to the school, Nicola later discovered more hateful messages by logging into Megan’s Snapchat and Facebook accounts after her tragic death.
Heartbreakingly, Megan’s friends denied knowing about any bullying when asked.

In the weeks leading up to her death in 2017, Megan exhibited unusual behavior in class, including outbursts.
However, Nicola was never informed by the school about these changes.

On February 7, 2017, Megan attended a school meeting about a planned trip to France and appeared to be in good spirits.
Later that evening, her parents left for Cardiff with the youngest four siblings, leaving Megan and her three older siblings at home.
Around 10 p.m., Megan’s brother called their parents, unable to find her.
He eventually discovered her locked in the upstairs bathroom.
Despite efforts from her family, paramedics, and hospital staff, Megan could not be revived.
Nicola was left in shock and confusion, unable to understand why Megan would take such a drastic step.
Megan’s Legacy and Ongoing Advocacy
Megan was remembered by her family as a vibrant, intelligent, and caring young girl who loved to help others.
They described her as full of life and always ready to stand up for what she believed in.
In the wake of her death, Nicola has worked tirelessly to raise awareness about the dangers of cyberbullying and the importance of mental health support.
She founded Megan’s Starr Foundation to offer free counseling and peer support for young people in Pembrokeshire, ensuring that Megan’s legacy continues to help others.
