Tinubu’s Academic Records: APC Chieftain Urges Transparency Amid Controversy

Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, the former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP) and a prominent figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, has reacted to President Bola Tinubu’s recent legal move to prevent Chicago State University (CSU) from disclosing his academic records to the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar.

Tinubu’s Legal Action

President Tinubu had sought a court order from the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in Chicago to permit CSU to release only his certificate to Atiku while blocking the university from revealing any additional information about the certificate holder, including gender and school history.

Eze’s Call for Transparency

In response to this development, Eze Chukwuemeka Eze urged President Tinubu to free himself from potential global notoriety and protect APC members from disgrace and shame by allowing the seamless disclosure of his academic records as ordered by the court.

Eze emphasized the importance of transparency in this matter.

Eze’s Statement

Eze noted that President Tinubu had relied on privacy rights, which extend to academic records, to obstruct any investigation into his claimed graduation from CSU.

However, the court ruled in favor of Atiku, affirming the right to access the academic records.

Addressing Electoral Verification Challenges

Eze highlighted that Atiku’s pursuit of transparency revealed weaknesses in electoral laws and institutions related to document verification for public office seekers.

He raised concerns about some public officeholders presenting forged academic records.

Questions Raised

Eze questioned why President Tinubu, if his CSU certificate was genuine, would expend significant effort and resources to impede efforts to reveal it to Atiku Abubakar, who has an ongoing appeal challenging his victory in the 2023 presidential election.

The controversy surrounding President Tinubu’s academic records and the demand for transparency in disclosing them continue to generate discussion and debate.
