Four people were killed and another five injured after a Russian strike hit a civilian enterprise in Kamianske in Ukraine’s Dnipro region, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
In a statement, Zelenskyy expressed condolences to the families of those killed and said the latest overnight attacks also damaged residential buildings in several parts of the country.
The reported casualties add to the continuing toll from Russian aerial strikes targeting Ukrainian cities and infrastructure.
Homes and shopping centres damaged in several regions
According to Zelenskyy, residential buildings were damaged in Kherson, Boryspil and the Kharkiv region.
Drones also struck shopping malls in Sumy and Mykolaiv, he said, adding that the attacks affected both civilian areas and critical infrastructure.
The Ukrainian president did not provide a full assessment of the damage caused by the overnight strikes.
Kyiv and Boryspil airports also targeted
Zelenskyy said Russian forces also carried out what he described as deliberate strikes against airports in Kyiv and Boryspil.
He characterised the attacks as unusual because the airports had not been deliberately targeted in this way for some time.
The Ukrainian president linked the strikes to discussions surrounding the possibility of a US aircraft travelling to Ukraine and landing at either Kyiv Airport or Boryspil Airport.
Zelenskyy links strikes to US diplomatic discussions
According to Zelenskyy, the timing of the attacks suggests they were connected to preparations for potential US travel to Ukraine.
He described the Russian strikes as a response to American diplomatic efforts, referring to the drones used in the attacks as Russian-Iranian “Shaheds.”
The Ukrainian president said Kyiv had taken note of the development and would respond accordingly.
Ukraine threatens action against Russian airspace
Zelenskyy said Ukraine plans to adjust its operations next week in response to what he described as increasingly dangerous Russian airspace.
He suggested that Ukraine’s drones and missiles would play a greater role in those operations, although he did not specify what targets or actions were being considered.
The statement represents a warning of possible escalation as Ukraine seeks to respond to the latest Russian attacks.
Kyiv says diplomacy will not be threatened
Despite the warning of further military action, Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine does not intend to threaten diplomatic efforts.
He said Ukraine remains interested in bringing the war closer to an end and reiterated that Russia would be held responsible for its actions.
The comments come as diplomatic discussions involving the United States and Ukraine continue alongside ongoing Russian attacks and Ukrainian military operations.

Zelenskyy thanked those supporting Ukraine and its population as emergency and defence services continued responding to the latest strikes.
The Ukrainian president’s remarks reflect Kyiv’s stated position that military pressure and diplomatic engagement will continue simultaneously, with Ukraine seeking international support while preparing to respond to further Russian attacks.
