Since his arrival in 2020, the former Sundowns coach has won two back-to-back CAF Champions League titles and two consecutive CAF Super Cups.
Mosimane is reported to have received a contract offer around R2.5m-a-month to remain with the Egypt club, with plenty of debate having centred around the negotiations and whether a new agreement would be agreed upon by both parties.
According to goalkeeping legend turned pundit Ahmed Shobeir, Al Ahly will extend head coach Mosimane’s contract before the trip to South Africa to face Sundowns in the second round of the CAF Champions League on 11 March.
“Al Ahly officials told Mosimane that they fully trust him and the new contract process should be over before South Africa Trip,” Shobeir said, as reported by King Fut.
“Mosimane was happy about it and the new contract will be signed soon.”
Meanwhile, in a wide-ranging interview for the On The Whistle Podcast, Mosimane “talks about renewing his contract, potentially coaching in the MLS, his reservations around the African Super League, and the big Champions League game coming up againsthis former team Mamelodi Sundowns”.
