Rev Richard Coles, the former 80s pop star turned Church of England priest, is entering the 2024 edition of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! with a hefty financial cushion already in place.

While many of his fellow celebrities are hoping for a big payday following their time in the jungle, Coles has already earned his fortune.

As a member of the band The Communards in the 1980s, he gained fame alongside Jimmy Somerville.

But it’s his television career and lucrative business ventures that have truly built his wealth.

Coles’ Impressive Earnings

Coles’ company, Mistramark Ltd, reported paying £179,047 in corporation tax over the past two years, and with a tax rate of 19%, it’s estimated that his firm made a net profit of around £940,000.

The business is sitting on £542,977 in cash reserves and boasts healthy financial reserves of £354,477—three times the amount from the previous year.

Coles’ wealth comes from more than just his music career; his multiple TV appearances, including Strictly Come Dancing, Celebrity MasterChef, Songs of Praise, and QI, have also been significant income sources.

Before heading into the jungle, Coles revealed to MailOnline that he intentionally gained weight by consuming 5,000 calories a day.

This was a strategic move to bulk up before switching to a much leaner diet of beans and rice in the camp.

Coles joked that he didn’t try to lose weight in preparation for the show, instead opting for a calorie-heavy diet.

As he explained, he’s gained a bit of weight, but he’s ready for the physical challenges ahead.

As Coles joins I’m A Celebrity, he’ll be facing his biggest fear: heights.

The vicar admitted that he once froze in fear while standing on a stepladder, so Bushtucker Trials involving heights will certainly test him.

But despite the nerves, Coles is taking it all in stride and plans to lean on his faith during the trials.

He’s not going to preach to his fellow campmates, but he acknowledges that his religious beliefs will be important as he navigates the challenges ahead.
