The United States has cautioned Kyiv that shelling Russian territory might escalate the conflict.

According to unnamed sources, confidential conversations were conducted between officials of Ukraine and the US, during which they discussed the potential of the war escalating.

According to one of the sources, the US authorities are concerned about the escalation, but they do not want to restrict the Ukrainian military’s ability to use the weapons that have been provided to them too much.

“We are concerned about a possible escalation of the war,” the person told Reuters. “At the same time, we do not want to impose geographic boundaries or bind the Armed Forces of Ukraine in their use of what we offer them.”

Another source said that the countries have a mutual understanding of the extent to which the Armed Forces of Ukraine can use the weapons supplied to them.
