Early Registration for Matrics of 2023
Dear Matrics of 2023, it is crucial that you register now to facilitate easy access to your examination results.
Registration Details and Result Availability
The registration period commences on 18 December.
By 06:00 on 19 January, the National Senior Certificate (NSC) examination results will be accessible.
Learners in the Western Cape can view their results from 11:00 on the same day.
How to Register and Access Results
Mobile Registration:
Use the USSD code 12045856# along with your exam number.
Alternatively, SMS your exam number to 45856 (Cost: R1.50 per SMS).
Online Registration:
Visit the Department of Education website.
Enter your exam number and personal details, including your ID number.
Click the search button to view your results.

Visit your high school on result release day (results available from 11:00 am).
Newspaper:
Check newspapers for matric results.
Visit the newspaper’s website, enter your exam number and school name to access results.
MatricsMate App:

Enter your 13-digit ID number and examination number to view results instantly.
Gauteng Matric Results Online:
Download the GPG Matric app to access results via smartphone or any internet-connected device.
Outcome Announcement Date
The Minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga, will announce the 2023 National Senior Certificate examination outcomes on 18 January 2024.
Results will be released to candidates on 19 January 2024, with potential technical issues affecting some results.
Post-Result Procedures
Obtain statements of results from your school/centre. Results will be available on the official website from 06:00 on 19 January 2024.
Submit result queries for investigation within 30 days.
Ensure correct names and identity numbers on the statement of results and report corrections to the Department by 21 February 2024.
