Ramaphosa could be forced to appear in Mkhwebane’s fitness probe

Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane, the Public Protector who has been placed on administrative leave, has written to President Cyril Ramaphosa requesting that he testify before the parliamentary investigation examining her eligibility to take office.

Ramaphosa might be made to appear in court if he refuses, which he has done, according to Advocate Dali Mpofu, Mkhwebane’s legal counsel.

Ramaphosa is said to be conflicted, according to Mkhwebane, since he is a central figure in several of her investigations, such as the one investigating the theft at his Phala Phala property and the CR17 controversy. The inquiry into Farmgate has been taken over by Advocate Kholeka Gcaleka, Mkhwebane’s deputy, who has given Ramaphosa seven days to answer after dismissing his plea for yet another extension.
