R32K worth of mandrax recovered, Mariannridge

On Friday, 25 March 2022, police officers from Provincial Drug and Firearm Unit conducted an operation in Mariannridge. An early morning takedown, conducted at Gemini Way, led to the successful arrest of a 31-year-old man.

The suspect was found in possession of 460 boss mandrax tablets.

The drugs are valued at R32 200-00.

A follow up investigation was conducted at Point area. The investigation led the team to the arrest of a 24-year-old man in one of the flats in Mahatma Ghandi Street.

The suspect was found in possession of eight plastic bags of Methcathinone and four plastic straws of crystal meth.

The recovered drugs are valued at R4000-00.

The total value of the recovered drugs in the operation are valued at R36 200-00.

The suspects will appear before the Durban and Pinetown Magistrate’s Courts respectively on Monday, 28 March 2022, for possession of drugs.
