Proteas beat Pakistan by six runs at ICC Women’s World Cup

The South African women’s cricket team, ranked second in the world behind Australia, produced another unconvincing performance but remains unbeaten at the ICC Women’s World Cup in New Zealand.

The Proteas beat bottom-of-the-log Pakistan by six runs in Tauranga on Friday morning.

The South Africans who were put in to bat only managed to score 223 for the loss of nine wickets in their 50 overs.

Opening batter Laura Wolvaardt top scored with 75 from 91 deliveries, while captain Sune Luus made 62.

They then bowled Pakistan out for 217 in the last over of the match.

Shabnim Ismail was the pick of the bowlers and finished with figures of three for 41 in nine overs and five deliveries.

The Proteas will next play defending champions England on Monday.
