Renowned political economist, Prof. Pat Utomi, has clarified that he has no affiliation with the alleged list of “new appointees and some new ministers” circulating on social media, which falsely claims he is set to serve as a minister under President Bola Tinubu.
Utomi’s Director of Media and Communications, Charles Odibo, issued a statement urging the public to disregard the unfounded list, emphasizing its complete falsehood.
Second Instance of False News Linking Utomi to Government
In the statement, Utomi’s spokesperson highlighted that this is the second occurrence in less than three months where false news attempts to connect Utomi with the new government.
Utomi himself, who has been abroad for over two months working on his new book, confirmed that he has had no conversations or intentions regarding a governmental appointment.
Dismissing Deceptive List and False Information
The statement unequivocally refuted the accuracy of the circulating list, associating Utomi with the new Federal Government under President Tinubu.
It emphasized the need for Nigerians to disregard the clearly false information and misleading claims.
The statement also mentioned a previous instance in March when similar false news propagated, linking Utomi and Emir Sanusi to leading the planning for Nigeria’s growth and development, which was also categorically refuted.
