President Bola Tinubu has authorized the clearance of a significant outstanding debt owed by the Federal Government to various national sports teams, including the Super Eagles.

The payment encompasses settling 15 months of senior national team coach salaries and addressing outstanding

allowances and commitments owed to the senior national teams, female teams, and the Under-20 national team.

An official statement from Tinubu’s Media Center confirmed the approval, stating, “President @officialABAT has approved the payment of N12 billion outstanding backlog for Nigeria’s National teams of various sports, which includes Super Eagles and others.

This is coming at a crucial time as the Super Eagles prepare for their participation in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for later this month.”
