Presidency 2023: Tinubu charges youths to build character, competence

On Thursday, a national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, advised Nigerian youths to build character and competence, shunning vices like violence, drug abuse, rape, and corruption.

Tinubu made the statement at the palaces of the Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II and Owa Obokun of Ijesha Land, Oba Adekunle Aromolaran, where he visited to seek a royal blessing for his presidential ambition.

While making a case for his own presidential bid, Asiwaju noted that the youths would stand a better chance to rule the country when properly groomed to take up such leadership roles.

He said: “We are not saying it is not the turn of youths, but you have to work for it.

Demonstrate the quality, character and intelligence to govern people, manage people.

The former Lagos State Governor, who paid homage at both palaces in Ile-Ife and Ilesha, respectively, gave the same charge, emphasising the need to eschew religious and ethnic conflicts.

“We don’t have to have conflict.

We don’t have to disagree.

God Almighty is the giver of power and blessing.

We should use the diversity that he gave to us to promote peace and stability.

The APC Chieftain, who identified the country’s potentials, said Nigeria only needs the right person to actualise those potentials for maximum development.

Responding, Oba Ogunwusi extolled the virtues of Tinubu and prayed for the APC stalwart, asking the spirits of his ancestors to lead, guide and make his aspiration come to fruition.

Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State accompanied the Presidential hopeful on the visit, while several traditional rulers were also at hand to offer their blessing.
