A shocking case has unfolded in the UK, where a man is on trial for the brutal murders of two men.
Yostin Andres Mosquera, 35, allegedly decapitated and dismembered his victims, Albert Alfonso, 62, and Paul Longworth, 71, before freezing parts of their remains and transporting others in suitcases to the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol.
The trial is currently underway at the Old Bailey, where Mosquera is facing charges of murder.
The Victims and Their Life Together
Albert Alfonso, a swimming instructor, and Paul Longworth, a retired handyman, were described by neighbors as a loving couple who appeared to be very happy together.
The two had recently entered a civil partnership in February 2023.
Their life, however, was marred by the dark and twisted actions of Mosquera, a man who had become involved with Alfonso in a disturbing way.
Alfonso was known for his interest in “extreme sex,” which Longworth, while aware of, did not partake in.
The couple’s relationship with Mosquera was reportedly centered around these sexual encounters, with Mosquera, who the prosecution claims had a history as a “pornographic performer,” engaging in these acts in exchange for payment.
Mosquera’s Search for Motive
Prosecutor Deanna Heer KC presented chilling evidence during the trial, revealing that Mosquera had been planning the murders long before they took place.
Between June and July 8 of last year, Mosquera was reportedly conducting online searches for information about the couple’s home, the cost of a chest freezer, and the login details for Alfonso’s online bank accounts.
He even researched “serial killers of London” and the infamous “Jack the Ripper film.”
These searches indicated that Mosquera had ulterior motives beyond his relationship with Alfonso and Longworth.
The Murders
On the night of July 8, Mosquera allegedly murdered both men in their shared flat.
Longworth suffered fatal injuries from repeated hammer strikes to the back of his head, while Alfonso was repeatedly stabbed in the torso, neck, face, and body.
Prosecutor Heer emphasized that these facts were not in dispute.
After the killings, Mosquera attempted to steal from the victims.
The court was told that he transported the dismembered bodies in suitcases, lying to a cyclist on the Clifton Suspension Bridge, claiming the luggage contained car parts.
The truth, however, was far more gruesome—inside the suitcases were the decapitated and dismembered remains of Longworth and Alfonso.
The Discovery and Investigation
The bodies were discovered on the bridge after a cyclist noticed Mosquera standing next to a large red suitcase on the evening of July 10.
After the police were alerted, they found the rest of the remains stored in a chest freezer at the victims’ flat.
The prosecution is asserting that Mosquera’s actions were premeditated and driven by a desire for financial gain, making this crime even more chilling.
What’s Next in the Trial?
As the trial continues, the prosecution will focus on presenting the evidence that Mosquera intended to murder both men and carried out the killings with planning and malice.
The chilling nature of the crime has left the jury with many questions, and as the trial unfolds, the details will undoubtedly become even more disturbing.
