Pope Francis is reportedly resting well as he continues to recover from a respiratory infection.

According to the Vatican, the Holy Father had a peaceful night and showed no signs of fever, a positive sign in his recovery process.

Pope’s Admission to the Hospital and Initial Treatment

The 87-year-old pontiff was admitted to Rome’s Gemelli Hospital on Friday after battling bronchitis for several days.

Upon his arrival, doctors identified a respiratory tract infection and a slight fever.

The Vatican confirmed that he had been undergoing treatment and, after further testing on Saturday, adjustments were made to his care to ensure the best possible recovery.

Daily Routine and Rest for the Pope

Throughout the morning, Pope Francis received the Holy Eucharist, followed by periods of rest, prayer, and reading.

The Vatican mentioned that the medical team emphasized the importance of absolute rest to aid in his healing.

As a result, the Holy Father will not be leading the Angelus prayer on Sunday, February 16.

However, he intended to send his message for publication as usual.

The Vatican also shared that Pope Francis has been informed of the numerous messages of support and affection from around the world.

In response, he expressed his gratitude and asked for continued prayers as he continues to recover.
