Poll Reveals Prime Minister Keir Starmer Faces Unprecedented Drop in Popularity Among Labour Voters Across the UK

There’s been a dramatic shift in how people feel about Sir Keir Starmer, and not just among the general public.

Recent polling shows that even Labour’s own supporters are starting to lose faith in their leader, marking a tough new chapter for the party.

Labour Voters Turning Against Sir Keir Starmer

A new survey reveals that only 45 percent of Labour voters now view Sir Keir favourably, which is a significant drop of more than 17 points in just one month.

Even more striking, half of Labour’s supporters say they now have an unfavourable opinion of him—up sharply from 33 percent in April.

For the first time ever, the Labour leader is more unpopular than popular among his own voters, according to YouGov.

The Public’s View of the Prime Minister Hits Historic Low

When looking beyond the party faithful, the numbers paint an even bleaker picture.

Overall, just 23 percent of the British public see Sir Keir in a positive light, while a whopping 69 percent have a negative view.

This gives him a “net favourability rating” of -46—the lowest ever recorded for a Prime Minister.

Labour’s Top Figures Also Struggle With Approval Ratings

It’s not just Sir Keir feeling the heat. Key figures in his leadership team—including Angela Rayner, Yvette Cooper, and Rachel Reeves—also received their worst-ever scores in this poll.

It suggests the problems aren’t isolated but widespread across the party’s front bench.

Labour Party’s Popularity Drops Sharply Across the Board

The poll also highlights a troubling trend for Labour as a whole.

About 65 percent of those surveyed now hold an unfavourable view of the party itself, which is the highest negativity rating since this question was first asked back in 2017.

Even among people who voted Labour in the last election, only 59 percent have a positive opinion of the party.

YouGov points out that Labour’s popularity has dropped to the same level as the Green Party among its own supporters—a warning sign for the party’s future.

Immigration Crackdown Polling Raises Concerns Within No 10

This survey came right after Sir Keir’s new tougher stance on immigration drew criticism from many within Labour.

The results will likely increase worries at Downing Street that this approach might not attract voters on the political right—and could alienate left-wing supporters, pushing them towards smaller parties like the Greens and Liberal Democrats.
