A police investigation has been launched into a blogger who shared unsettling footage of the house where Virginia McCullough, the convicted killer, stored the bodies of her deceased parents.
The shocking images from the abandoned home have left many disturbed, especially as McCullough’s violent crimes continue to haunt the community.
McCullough’s Heinous Crimes and Sentence
McCullough was sentenced in October 2024 to a minimum of 36 years behind bars for the gruesome murders of her parents, John, 70, and Lois, 71.
In June 2019, she poisoned her father and placed his body in a “homemade mausoleum” before brutally killing her mother with a hammer and knife.
The cold-blooded daughter lived with her parents’ bodies for years, even stealing nearly £150,000 from their accounts.
The Family Home: A Crime Scene
The house, located in Pump Hill, Chelmsford, is currently under police control.
It has been boarded up, and metal security barriers have been placed around the property to prevent any further intrusion.
An urban explorer recently posted disturbing footage online, revealing unsettling images of the home’s interior.
The video included scenes of food, cutlery, and crockery left untouched, along with the specific locations where the bodies were hidden.
Police Call for Respect for the Victims’ Relatives
Authorities have strongly condemned the spread of this footage, urging people not to share it further.
A spokesperson for Essex Police stated, “We ask people not to share it any further out of respect for the grieving family at the heart of this matter.”
The investigation into how the footage was obtained is ongoing.
McCullough’s Admission and Sentence Details
Virginia McCullough admitted to two counts of murder in June 2024.
At her sentencing hearing, the court heard how McCullough, described as exhibiting psychopathic tendencies by a psychiatrist, had planned and executed a meticulous campaign of deceit and fraud.
She confessed to murdering her father with a dose of sleeping tablets, then killing her mother in a violent attack before hiding their bodies.
The Shocking Details of the Murders
McCullough’s chilling actions continued after the murders.
She manipulated her family into believing her parents were still alive, even creating fraudulent documents to cover her tracks.
The murder of her father, who was left to die alone, was followed by an even more brutal attack on her mother.
As Mrs. McCullough lay unaware, McCullough struck her with a hammer and stabbed her multiple times.
She even tried to cover up a self-inflicted injury from the attack, claiming it was a kitchen accident.
A Motive Rooted in Greed
The court heard that McCullough’s primary motive for the murders was financial gain.
She stole over £149,000 from her parents’ finances, including money from bank accounts, pensions, and benefits.
A significant portion of this money was spent on gambling.
Her actions were described as a “gross violation” of the trust between a parent and child.
Family’s Heartfelt Plea for Justice
The victims’ relatives, including Mrs. McCullough’s brother, Richard Butcher, expressed their anguish in court.
Butcher revealed how he had been manipulated into believing his sister was still alive.
His heartfelt plea underscored the emotional devastation caused by McCullough’s crimes, urging the judge to lock her away for good.
With McCullough’s sentence now handed down, many are left wondering what the future holds for her and her family, as they continue to grapple with the aftermath of her horrific actions.
