Detectives are investigating after a man was shot during a carjacking in the Northgate neighborhood Wednesday evening.

At 7:40 p.m., multiple 911 callers reported a man firing a rifle near 8th Avenue Northeast and Northeast Northgate Way.

Soon after, a man called 911 and reported he had been shot during an attempted carjacking. Officers and Seattle Fire Department medics met with the victim nearby and treated him for two gunshot wounds to his arm and buttock.

The victim said he was in his vehicle in the 11000 block of 8th Avenue Northeast when multiple suspects approached him and took his car at gunpoint. The victim said he clung to his car as the suspects were driving away, and was shot as he held on to the vehicle. The suspects then fled from the car, and the victim got back in and drove to a nearby business.
