Police hunt for alleged rapist and his two accomplices

South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Captain Stephen Thakeng said an 18-year-old girl and her sister were walking to the taxi rank when they were approached by three men.

“One of the suspects allegedly took out a knife and demanded cash. Both sisters did not have cash in their possession.

“Subsequently one suspect put a knife to the girl’s throat and raped her twice. After the ordeal, the suspects fled from the scene on foot,” said Thakeng.

The matter was reported to the Hoopstad police and a rape case was opened. The identikits of the suspects describe them as follows:

The first suspect is approximately 1,7 metres in height, he is light of complexion with a slender build. He also has a moustache. “He was wearing a black wool hat, purple jacket and black trousers and shirt,” said the police spokesperson.

The second suspect is around 1,8 metres in height, dark of complexion with a muscular build. He was wearing a black wool hat and a black coat.

The third suspect was dark in complexion and muscular and stood at a height of 1,6 metres. He was wearing a black hat and coat.

According to the police, the suspects were speaking South Sotho and are believed to be between the ages of 20 to 35.
