If Peter Mandelson complies with its regulations, he is eligible for an EU pension of almost £31,000 year.

The 68-year-old Labour Lord served as a trade commissioner for four years, earning him an EU pension at age 65.

However, according to Brussels regulations, if he doesn’t “behave with honesty and prudence” toward the institution, he might lose it. This is essentially a measure to prevent conflicts of interest.

According to the European Commission, voicing political ideas, including support for Brexit, would not often result in pension termination.

Lord Mandelson’s merciless modernization of the Labour Party earned him the moniker “The Prince of Darkness.”
