Passengers beat a NYC taxi driver to death after trying to rob him

This is the horrible moment at 6:30 a.m. when five thugs, including three adolescent females, viciously murdered a cab driver in New York City.

Father-of-four The 52-year-old cab driver, Kutin Gyimah, was viciously hit and kicked before receiving a fatal blow to the head from one of the thugs. Saturday morning on Arverne Boulevard in Queens, the taxi driver Gyimah was killed while pursuing a group of passengers who allegedly fled the vehicle without paying their fare.

He was transported to St. John’s Hospital, where he eventually passed away.

Two 20-year-old male suspects have been arrested, police said this morning.

Three adolescent girls aged 13 to 16 are still being sought by authorities.

Austin Amos was identified as one of the men who turned himself into the police. According to the NYPD, Amos was last seen wearing the same outfit as the guy who delivered the fatal hit.

According to authorities, Amos has been arrested six times in the past, including for robbery, criminal mischief, criminal contempt, and sexual misconduct. Wednesday night, he surrendered himself to the police while accompanied by his mother.

Prior to the incident, the New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers offered a $15,000 prize for information leading to an arrest.

It comes at a time when yellow taxi drivers in New York are facing debt and bankruptcy after investing in taxi medallions but failing to generate income commensurate with the cost of their license certificate.

Abigail, the wife of Gyimah, stated that she is “lost” without him. Gyimah had four children aged eight, seven, five, and three.

Footage from the vicious assault shows him exiting his taxi and pursuing the group of assailants on foot before they encircle him.

Near Beach 54th Street and Arverne Boulevard, he was observed lifting his arms to defend himself from the savage ambush as the mob continued their assault.

A suspect thought to be Amos hit Gyimah in the head, knocking the father of four to the ground.

The five suspects then fled the scene, leaving Gyimah unconscious on the pavement with a fatal head wound.

The suspects are later shown on camera ascending the steps of an apartment building. Abigail, his wife, told CBS2: ‘I don’t know what to do at the moment. I have lost. I have lost.’

‘He was a good, good dude. He was my support. Currently, I’m bewildered. My children’s hero,’ sobbed Abigail, unable to contain her tears.

More than $109,600 has been raised thus far for Gyimah’s wife and four children through a GoFundMe campaign. The funds will also be utilized to cover the family’s living expenses and the children’s education costs.

On the page, one of Gyimah’s coworkers said, ‘He was one of our taxi drivers who worked honestly and tirelessly to provide for his family.

‘During the hardest days of the pandemic, he was one of the few who continued to drive a taxi to assist our city and its residents. Please assist in honoring him, his work, and his family.

He was a married and the father of four children, aged 8, 7, 5, and 3. He will no longer return home.’
