In response to the explosive incident and the ensuing chaos, the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, issued a statement urging residents to remain calm.

Commissioner Oyelade addressed the public, stating, “Residents of Ibadan and immediate environment experienced an uncommon explosion about 8 pm this evening.

There are various interpretations of the incident, but it is important for us to state categorically that the state government has taken over and is in full control of the unfortunate occurrence to mitigate the incident.”

Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration swiftly deployed all security service chiefs, including paramilitary leaders and fire operatives, to manage the aftermath of the explosion and prevent any further spillover.
