Around 7:00 p.m., the Bodija area of Ibadan was rattled by a powerful explosion, causing structural damage to buildings and triggering panic among the city’s residents.

In response to the explosive incident and the ensuing chaos, the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, issued a statement urging residents to remain calm.
While refraining from disclosing the cause of the explosion, Oyelade assured the public that the government had taken control of the situation.

Commissioner Oyelade addressed the public, stating, “Residents of Ibadan and immediate environment experienced an uncommon explosion about 8 pm this evening.
There are various interpretations of the incident, but it is important for us to state categorically that the state government has taken over and is in full control of the unfortunate occurrence to mitigate the incident.”
