FORMER ORLANDO PIRATES GOALIE NAMES HIS BEST NUMBER NINE
Orlando Pirates have been changing goalkeepers quite a lot but some of them remain memorable. One example is Brighton Mhlongo.
Among many interesting questions, Mhlongo was asked to name a special striker that gave him a torrid time in the PSL.
According to the Orlando Pirates academy product, the former SuperSport United and Mamelodi Sundowns striker, Jeremy Brockie, was called the ‘sniper’ for a reason.
“The best striker in a match or penalties?” Mhlongo asked the host. “In a match,” said Sol Phenduka.
“Yho bro, Jeremy Brockie” said Mhlongo with a serious look on his face.
“Jeremy Brockie, the Sniper!” he added while nodding his head.
“He was solid that guy. That guy was the sniper. So, this guy, what he would do, he would always go to the blindside,” the former Orlando Pirates keeper continued.
“He was not those strikers who went towards the ball where you can see them. He always peeled off to go to the blindside.
“Next thing the player crosses… he is alone… boom!” Volley! Technique. He was solid,” Mhlongo concluded.
BUCS EXPECTED TO MISS THEMBINKOSI LORCH
Orlando Pirates fans won’t enjoy this. The club’s co-coach Fadlu Davids has confirmed Thembinkosi Lorch has suffered a hamstring injury.
The unwelcome news was relieved on Wednesday night before Bucs took on Cape Town City at the Orlando Stadium.
After announcing the starting line-up without Lorch, coach Davids was asked why Lorch was missing?
The coach also added to confirm the worst scare, Lorch is unlikely to be fit to face arch-enemies Kaizer Chiefs in the Soweto derby on Saturday,
