Confirmation of Olayide Adelami as Deputy Governor

The Ondo State House of Assembly conducted a screening and confirmation process for Olayide Adelami as the Deputy Governor of Ondo State on Thursday.

This decision followed Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s nomination, submitted just 24 hours prior to the Assembly for approval.

Nomination and Approval Process

Governor Aiyedatiwa submitted Adelami’s name to the Assembly for approval, leading to a swift confirmation process during the Assembly’s plenary session.

The House selection committee, under the leadership of Speaker Olamide Oladiji, considered and endorsed the nominee based on their report.

Pre-Plenary Screening Exercise

Before the plenary session, the House had previously conducted a screening exercise for the nominee at the Assembly complex.

This step aimed to ensure a thorough assessment of Adelami’s qualifications and suitability for the role.

Reading of the Governor’s Letter

During the plenary session, the Clerk of the House, Jaiyeola Benjamin, read the letter sent by Governor Aiyedatiwa, officially presenting the nominee for consideration.

The letter detailed the governor’s endorsement of Adelami for the position.

Confirmation Motion and Recommendations

Following the report submission, Deputy Speaker Abayomi Akinruntan recommended confirming the nominee’s appointment, asserting that Adelami had undergone a proper screening process.

The Majority Leader, Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi, proposed the motion for the report’s consideration and the confirmation of the nominee.

Assembly’s Decision and Support

Felix Afe, representing Akoko North West 2 Constituency, seconded the motion, leading to Speaker Oladiji ruling in favor of the confirmation.

The Speaker congratulated the Deputy Governor-designate and emphasized the Assembly’s commitment to supporting the executive for the benefit of the people.

Adelami’s Response and Pledge

In response, Adelami expressed appreciation to Governor Aiyedatiwa for the nomination and pledged not to betray the confidence placed in him.
