Before making a final choice on his future, Oleksandr Zinchenko is waiting to hear from Manchester City.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has identified the versatile Ukraine international as a top transfer target.

During their time together at the Etihad Stadium, where Arteta worked as Pep Guardiola’s assistant for two and a half years, Zinchenko worked closely with the Arsenal boss.

Arteta is believed to believe that Zinchenko can provide more than ample backup for Tierney’s injury-prone first choice left back while also providing another option in the midfield, where he is limited on choices.

Arsenal recruited Portugal Under-21 international Nuno Tavares last summer, but in the absence of Tierney, he has put up a run of poor performances and is set to be sent out this summer.

Meanwhile, West Ham are interested in the Ukraine captain, who has received widespread praise for the manner in which he has championed the cause of his war-torn country in recent months.

According to the I Zinchenko is eager to explore his future with City before making a final choice and is open to signing a new contract.

Last season, City struggled at left-back, but Guardiola is hoping to fix that this summer and has recruited Brighton’s Marc Cucurella.

The Barcelona academy graduate had a fantastic first season in the Premier League with the Seagulls and would be available for around £45 million.

His arrival at City could persuade Zinchenko to reconsider his decision and pursue a move to Arsenal.
