In Kogi State, a heated altercation unfolded on Monday between officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and members of the Nigeria Police Force.

The incident occurred when NDLEA operatives attempted to apprehend a Police Inspector’s wife for her alleged involvement in the sale of illicit drugs.

Inspector’s Wife Caught with Contraband

Multiple sources have reported that the Inspector’s wife was apprehended with a bag containing Cannabis Sativa and other illicit substances at the A Division of Police Station in Lokoja, the capital of Kogi state. Allegedly, she was in the midst of distributing these illicit drugs to individuals at the police station from her husband’s ash-colored Volkswagen.

Conflict Erupts Over Arrest Attempt

As the NDLEA operatives moved to detain the Inspector’s wife and impound the vehicle, a confrontation ensued when certain police officers intervened, thwarting the arrest operation.

The clash escalated into a physical altercation between the two law enforcement agencies, with tensions running high.

Eyewitness Account of the Incident

One of the sources providing information on the situation stated that “a police Inspector’s wife was arrested by NDLEA yesterday inside A division in Kogi.

The source further explained that the conflict escalated when the police officers on the scene resisted the NDLEA’s efforts until the Assistant Commissioner of Police overseeing the division intervened.

Wife’s Arrest Raises Questions

The Inspector’s wife, who was found distributing drugs from her husband’s vehicle, has been detained and her husband’s car, along with the bags of illegal substances, was transported to the NDLEA office in Lokoja for further investigation.

She has reportedly confessed to her actions. The incident raises significant questions, including the nature of her clientele inside a police station.
