NECO urges Northern States to pay outstanding N2.8bn

Professor Dantani Wushishi, the Registrar of the National Examination Council (NECO), has urged Northern Nigerian states to pay the outstanding N2 billion debt.

For candidates from their respective states, registration fees totaled $8 billion.

This was announced by the Registrar during the release of NECO’s internal examination results for 2021 in Minna, the capital of Niger state.
He claims that the Council’s actions are hampered by the failure of state governments to make timely payments as promised.

Professor Wushishi who commended the performance of candidates in the 2021 internal examination stated that 878,925 out of 1,226,796 candidates for the examination representing 71.

64 percent made five credits and above in English language and Mathematics
The NECO Registrar also called on the Northern Governors Forum to assist in the prompt payment of the outstanding fees.
