According to the avia.pro website, a group of NATO jets flew over the western section of the Black Sea, according to Flight Radar.

The North Atlantic Alliance’s planes were spotted near Ukraine’s Snake Island (Zmeiny Ostrov), which is still under Russian control and where fighting erupted in early May. The Russian Armed Forces repelled repeated efforts by Ukrainian troops to take Snake Island on Victory Day.

NATO fighter jets were escorted by tanker planes. They flew out of Romania. Two British Eurofighter Typhoon planes were involved in the mission, according to the website. The aircraft was alleged to have included US F-35 jets, however due to deactivated transponders, this information cannot be confirmed.

On May 16, Russian air defense systems shot down a Ukrainian Su-24 bomber near the Snake Island. On May 27, Sevastopol Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev said that a serviceman was killed while defending the Skane Island from the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
